Coincidences (or not)

This is at least the second time in my conlang when I've tried to come up with a word, and found that I already have a very similar word for a very similar concept. This time around, I genuinely cannot tell if I went through the same etymological process both times! (I think last time I was just making words up out of thin air, but this time, I had a thought process to get the new word.)

Not sure if I want to keep the new word or not.

In putting some of my handwritten notes into searchable/sortable files, I keep finding places where I've invented the same word twice. Sometimes the two look like they could be related, and I switch the meaning of one to something closely related, and sometimes they look nothing alike, and then I have to decide which stays and which goes...

... And sometimes that's like having to choose between two cute puppies when you want both.
